The
Impact of Automated Image Alignment on Image Interpretation

Description:
The SCAR–supported R&D project, which is an analysis of the impact
of automated image alignment on image interpretation, is described.
We prospectively recruited 20 sequential CT or MR examinations that had
comparison examinations for both neurological and non-neurological body
parts (20 in each of the 2 categories). The ‘new’ exam and the
‘old’ exam were then distributed to several different reading centers.
These were interpreted twice—once with the old examination registered to
the new, and once without. The time to come to a decision about the
examination and the level of certainty was measured. The findings of this
multi-center trial are presented.
